“At one time I confused one of the specialists with the Oudtshoorn Dentist. Dear Lord! There he was – Stuhlinger himself! I watched in paralysed horror as he closed the curtain to examine me. He was going to succeed after all! He was going to kill me and there was nobody around to help – only Stuhlinger and me! I heard the calm voice of the nurse on the other side of the curtain; “Doctor, do you need anything?” I wanted to scream – to shout out; “Damn all of you! Don’t you realise that this is Stuhlinger? I couldn’t move. I watched in terror as the curtain opened and she brought the syringe and a small brown bottle with liquid in it. |
